Cannondale CAAD9 parts question

Just going through the process of ordering the 'Dale after reading the review in CP a few issues back I decided to get it via the CTW scheme.
Gone for the Jet Black colour as I thought the liquigas paint was nice but loud.
The Black is more stealth like... :lol:

Anyhoo...looking on the 'Dale website I was able to choose my size ok using the geometry diagrams/sizing charts but I am unable to see any info on things like bar width, stem length, crank length, seat post length.
These are pretty important to me so if you know where I can visit to get this info that'd be much appreciated.

Cheers

    You'd have thought that was the case but after asking (It was Cycle Solutions - not the actual shop) I was told they weren't sure and to refer to the Cannondale website. The Cannondale website doesn't show it either.....is it such a secret? :lol:

    I've gone for the 52cm frame sized Tiagra Compact.
    I reckon they'd be 42cm bars, 300-350mm seat post, 90mm stem and 170mm cranks.....but can't be sure.

    I have a 54cm CAAD9 which has the following

    Seatpost 250mm (to saddle rail)
    Bars 42cm c to c (44cm outside to outside)
    Stem 90mm
    Cranks 170mm

    The only thing I reckon might be different on a 52cm would be the stem, but then I doubt they would put an 80mm on it.

    Thanks Mike thats a great help.
    May I ask how tall you are?
    I chose the 52cm as I use a 52cm Tarmac SL3 and Allez with a 90mm stem. They both have a 537mm top tube and comparing the geometry today the CAAD9 is almost the same .
    I'm just over 5'8" with a 30in inside leg but I like to fit onto the smallest frame possible.

    Cheers again

    No probs, I'm bewtween 5'8" and 5'9", probably nearer the latter.
    Inside leg is a bit longer than yourself at 31" so I guess a 52cm may be just right if you're aiming for the smallest frame to suit.

    Was anyone's choice affected by the headtube length?

    Toptube-wise the 52cm (53.5) is closer than the 54cm (54.5) to my current Wilier (53.7) and I'm running a 10cm flat(ish ITM VIsia) stem.
    However, the headtube in the 52cm CAAD9 is 12cm versus the 14cm on the 54. My medium Izoard has a 14.5cm HT and I'm not really a fan of flipped stems or huge stacks of spacers (2008 'dale fork manual says even the carbon steerer Premium fork on the Ultegra is good for a 55mm stack height).

    Thanks Mike, thats a great help indeed. :D

    The stem, bars, seatpost can be changed for longer, bigger etc if ever required but as we all know once you've got the wrong frame size your a bit stuck... :lol:

    The top tube on the CAAD9 is 2mm shorter than my Tarmac but the headtube is the same height, angles are the same etc and the seat tube is very similar too so I based my assumptions on that.
    If it comes with a 90mm stem on the 52cm and it's too short then I'll opt for the 100mm.

    Had a reply from Wheelies.co.uk (the shop supplying the CTW bike) and they said as 52 has:

    Stem = 100mm
    Bars = 42cm
    S/Post = 270mm
    Cranks = 170mm

    I phoned Cannondale UK and the young lad simply had no clue at all.....didn't know where to look and told me I should call the European suppliers instead. :? .....err.....why don't you call them and let me know I though....so I didn't bother.

    Seems like it's whatever the bike turns up with in terms of spec.
    If Mike's 'Dale arrived with a 90mm stem on a 54cm bike why would they fit a 100mm to a smaller bike? The other parts seem about right.
    Good job I have a 90mm KCNC lightweight stem here on my desk that'll pop on if required!.
    We shall see!

    Funny my 54cm CAAD9 (2009) came with a 100mm stem and 172.5mm cranks...maybe they don't mention these things on their site so they can give you wahtever they feel like on the day! Damn fine bike though.

    It could be down the the shops fitting the parts on...I guess people go in the shops and maybe swap parts over...so the shop put an odd sized part on the next bike to balance it out.... :lol: ....seems odd though that Cannondales' Website simply does not show this info.
    Not really good enough....but I'm sure I'll cope when it arrives....looking forward to it though....and thought about how it'd ride compared to my Allez 16 while I was riding that earlier today. :)
