    Plain soap suds.

Or i use tech wash by nikwax, which protects waterproofing and breathability when you wash the item.

Usually use Nik Wax, but this time I've gone for Grangers.

Nik Wax tech wash, followed by the reproofer did a good job. Water would bead again on the fabric.

Can't comment on the Grangers yet, cos since I've washed and reproofed, it hasn't rained.

Get some grangers Waterproof washing liquid from Millets/blacks/etc. (or nixwax/peter storm I guess). Use that instead of normal washing liquid. Every now and again, when the material starts wetting out re-DWR with a topical DWR solution. For more info try

Alternatively just wash it like normal (40 deg) etc. And expect to re-DWR more.

I wash the waterproofs with normal washing gel, you just have to make sure it doesnt have a conditioner in it too (like Bold 2in1).

When the waterproofness has gone, then nikwax them.

No point wasting Nikwax everytime you want to wash them, would cost a fortune and normal washing powder/gel etc is fine so long as no conditioner is used.
  • Be careful that if you wash it with normal washing products that you're not using anything that'll leave a residue, so no conditioners/softeners as said above. I'd always recommend either pure soap flakes, or a specific product like the Grangers or Nikwax.

Personally I prefer the Grangers, depending on how much you use it I don't find it too expensive and I wash my waterproofs once every week or two depending on how bad they've got.
This is my bike, there are many like it but this one is mine
