I take it the frame came with some decals as stock? What was wrong with them?

nowt wrong with the stock one apart from there stock lol and fitted to every orange bike i want mine to be a little diffrent and that it will be.

these are wat i got form ebay there good just not the same size as they stock ones. i am only getting the main orange one made now but getting the orange logo added infront of it.

    LOL fair enough.

My only 'concern' wth custom decals is some of them out there blatantly look like they are copies.... I would rather shell at 40% more and get ones that look like official decals.

I'm a designer and have worked up many logos over the years and as such am almost obsessive about bad artworking, the problem is that a lot of the cheaper places do not use the appropriate source file to use, hence the amateur results. And are not experienced enough in appropriate applications to alter them professionally, and a lot of the ebay ones look like they were done in a shed.

I know that I most certainly wouldn't want to shell out on a £1700 frame and have decals that made it look like a knock off... LOL....

A good designer will send you proofs via email for approval. A lot of these ebay/titnerweb stores don't offer a truly bespoke service, and the reason that they are cheap is because they have thousands available cut from one template that they blow up/reduce. So you never quite get the 'right' size.

I would spend the extra monies on professional laser-cut artwork.

Make sure also you get 6-7 year vinyl as otherwise it won't last 5 mins (the transfer types are made to be laquered over. Not exposed.

Interesting... I had looked into getting a blood frame and transfering the parts from my NS. But I was convinced it had a wider rear spacing.

  • Isn't it a 12mm bolt through rear hub though?
I seem to remember the reason I didn't was because my rear hub is a standard 10mm....

after much deliberation i decided to go a head today and order my forks.

I was torn between Fox and RS.

RS won only because they can be serviced and repaired at my LBS were as Fox normally have to be sent of.

RS Lyric U Turn 115 - 160 (2010) with mition control but at some point may get the DH cartridge fitted to them.

    RS320010k.jpg

couple other decisions i have made is not to go for neon rims now and stay black. also i wil not be fitting any graphics apart from the head tube orange logo.

Next choice breaks. Am thinking Hope tech V2's
  • Good choice on forks. I had a similar choice to make myself lately, and also went for RS over Fox for much the same reason as you.

Not so sure about the brakes though. Imo, Hope are a bit over-rated. Sure, they work well enough and are pretty to look at, but there are better brakes out there.

What's your budget like? How about Formula The One? If I had the money they'd be my first choice every time.

no budget relay mate. i just want it to be right first time.

only reason i want hope is coz its British. so it will be a British frame and as much of the components as possible.

formula breaks is a choice i have in my head i think there only a little bit more than the hopes.

as for the forks i think fox aint doing them self's no favors by not letting more ppl have the parts like RS do. i would of had fox they did. but i think i will be happy any way

Nice forks fella. I'd be tempted to keep with the stealth look, stickers to an absolute minimum and pretty much everything in black.

If it were mine, I'd keep the Lyric sticker on the left leg, but try to remove the others.
