Today a young woman was killed by a left turning skip truck on Dalston Lane Hackney. Not sure if this has been reported in the media yet. RIP

    :( RIP

There's a link to the Hackney Gazette on Google, but it won't open.

My thoughts are with the family of the cyclist *and* the truck driver.

As one of the comments on the link says, a campaign to inform cyclists what the primary position is, that they have every right to be in the primary position at junctions, and that it is in their interest to do so, would save more lives than a campaign to ban trucks from the roads in London.

Exactly, many seem to quickly point fingers at HGV drivers etc, but I think fellow cyclists need to understand how to position themselves on the road to protect themselves and others.

It's getting worse and worse as more first time commuters start cyclign into work (on bikes that don't look remotely road worthy in many cases) and pull off moves that if they were a car driver/motorcyclist, they'd be fined/get points for.

I think Boris is partly to blame because of his completely negligent cycling campaigns...
