My Rize has an '08 X9 long cage mech. Do I have to use the proppa SRAM jockey wheels with this mech or are there any alternatives?

IIRc these are the ones with the two mounting holes on the upper wheel?
as far as i know you are struck for that wheel at least."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

That's right - the upper one has an offset hole in the bush housing that locates in a lug on the inner cage. Just wondered if any of the aftermarket bods were making replacements 'cause the SRAM jockey wheels are kindof expensive :?0

I have fitted these a few weeks ago to X9 08

Do the wheels actually need replacing? By which I mean: have the teeth worn down?
If so, BETD / Goldtec told me that you can retrofit much cheaper Tacx wheels to X9 mechs, by simply filing off a 'nub' somewhere - probably on the 'offset-mount' top wheel?
I didn't get the details because the teeth on mine are fine - all I needed was a new bearing for the bottom wheel. The old bearing pops out easily, in goes the new one. I cleaned everything else, greased and reassembled. The mech is good as new - for like £1... : )
£15 saved = 1 bottle of Woods 100. Result!
Google BETD or Goldtec and give them a call.
Edit: the rollerboy wheels linked to above look better than SRAM's own, because there's a bearing on both wheels. They are still £15 though...When Chuck Norris does division, there are no remainders.0 -
omegas: thanks for the link. Are the Rollerboys OK?
kieronymous: they spin freely but look like Ninja throwing stars. I imagine the 'nub' is the lug on the inner cage; apart from that, the jockey wheels look fairly ordinary.0 -
I'm using Rollerboys in one of my X9s, I have no idea which one it is because once they're fitted they just work thesame as the old ones didUncompromising extremist0
