Heavy snow in many places in S-Europe now, not just Paris-Nice. Also in Tuscany, and Northern Spain. Apparently Rabobank and Astana won't be able to get their bus/mechanics van in time from Murcia to the Tirreno.
Robert Gesink almost didn't make it in time from Girona to Tuscany..

Grabovskyy of ISD currently in a solo breakaway, 24.5km with 4mins advantage.

Should hold out - would be amazing.

it's also live on Eurosport 2 - weather cold and wet, lone ISD breakaway up the road with rapidly diminishing lead of 2 minutes, 22 km to go.

Blimey, it must have been confused... I'm guessing it wasn't a sprint

Some riders slipped away in the tricky conditions and the bunch almost got them in the final but no one made that last effort to past them. Matti Breschel and Pablo Lastras 2nd and 3rd I think.

I got nervous old man syndrome watching that..

i think a lot of riders were unwilling to take risks?

At the risk of given PaoloBets a heart attack, wtf were Sky playing at?
Pulling the train for EBH, only for Flecha to start the counter attack, which eventually ended in Gerdemann winning.
Then, when they chase down the group of 4, its the Sky man who loses the wheel, having just caught the break.
The Cervelo guy also ran out of gas and the gap opened.
Liquigas worked so hard, then disappeared.

    Cavendish.......the clock is ticking.

I think Cav can write off the first part of the season. Maybe aim to pick up a couple of wins in Belgian semis. But the real aim is the green jersey, although it's far from certain his dental problems don't continue.

The cervelo guy was Thor Hushovd, who completely faded. That sky rider (whoever he was) pulled back the break and had just done his job, then Thor couldn't stay on their wheel and consequently the break got a gap again.

Just checking the results and it must have been EBH and Hushovd who first made contact with the back of the breakaway four before running out of legs, losing the wheel and allowing the gap to re-open scuppering everyone else's challenge.

Nope, the Sky rider who closed the gap was Sutton.

you sure? Sutton was down in 40th - can't see there was time for him to drop that far back.

Didn't see who the Sky rider was on the highlights, but he sat up with quite away to go (think it was a bit over 300m) and before the camera went the chase group, back to the leaders, there must have been 20 or so riders who passed him, so wouldn't be surprised if the sky rider who led the chase round the last corner ended up down in about 40th.

Looks like Cav needs to get some km's in his legs...

Andy finished a minute down which is an improvement on recent performances. Lets hope he can complete the whole race.

Strange sprint though. I'm not sure whether it was Hushovd who could have bridged the small gap but he had a load of sprinters behind him waiting to go and he didn't want to make the effort and let the gap go. Man in black for sure.
