Hi, I have managed to bag a place for La Marmotte this year and now need to book hotel/ b+b etc. I would like some ideas of places to stay (I am driving down with the family) so far hotels are all booked up, but I would be happy given that I have access to a car to look slightly further afield. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Chalet Michelle. Contact Bryan. Stayed there a couple of years ago. A great location and perfect for cyclists.

thank you very much - have just enquired but fully booked unfortunately. Certainly looks very nice - will keep that one in mind for next year.0

You should be able to find plenty of room in the Alpe, it's one big hotel. We've just booked two privately owned chalets for the six of us. A lot aren't available for booking until after the skiing season ends, but you can try now at the various Alpe booking sites, or you can PM me and I can send you a pdf of the private owners list my mate found.0

Another place a friend stayed at is http://www.kingofthemountains.co.uk/index.asp
I think Cycling Weekly have also use it in the past.0 -
Brilliant I will look into that as well - again many thanks.0

the place I stayed last year just emailed me today saying they had space if I was going along this year (which im not)
Its a bit of trek up in the hills behind the alpe - downside is that you'd need a taxi to get you to the start (and probably a taxi to get you home). the upsides are
- great place and people, relaxed friendly and terrific food
- the transport is easy to sort out; there's a guy with a bus and a trailer that spends his days transporting cyclists around, so actually very little hassle
