Ribble 7005 frames

All,

As I've ended up splashing out a bit more on my new race bike than initially anticipated  , and it won't be ready for the end of this season, I'm thinking of getting a cheap alloy frame in case I want to do a handful of races in the second part of this season. I'd then use it as a summer commuting/crit bike so as not to risk the main bike. My current training bike is an uncared-for 2002 alloy claud butler, so isn't really up to doing anything other than winter hacking, but I want to spend as little as possible as this would essentially be a stop-gap/reserve. And I mean little, so unless someone has a CAAD9 on ebay for £100, one of those is out the question!

Would a Ribble 7005 SL be a decent frame for this? Or how about the Ribble deddiiiiaccciaiiariiccia EM2? Any opinions on these frames?

Many thanks

PP

  • If you want it as cheap as possible why not get one of the clearance frames they are offering ?

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking at. I'm just wondering whether anyone has any experience to make sure they'd be suitable, or whether it would be a false economy and I'd be better off with a Planet X alu.

From what I've seen you'd be fine with the ribble. Planet X looks good though.
