Do you work for them or something?

    Very fishy indeed!

I ordered a pair of shorts a while ago and got told some new ones were coming out so they were going to send me some of them at the same price, which is great, but not heard anything since...

Nope, I have nothing to do with Shutt other than being a very happy customer. The reason all my posts are about them is that I'm new into this cycling lark (2 months) and have so far only encountered them as providing the service I would come to expect. Personally I think the service within the cycling world is mostly dire compared where it is aimed at die hard fans and as such puts of new people like myself. So when I come across a company that ticks all of my boxes I will make a point of being positive about them.

Personally I like Campa in style and understand what Rapha are trying to do, but I won't buy from them as I am not bothered about what is trendy to other cyclists. I buy what works for me and I will happily focus on Shutt for my kit going forward and I think from reading the comments about Shutt in a few threads a lot of other people are doing the same (Shutt seem to be open when commenting on themselves).

So I applaud Shutt for taking an effort to listen to new people into the sport, something very people do unfortunately. That is for another thread altogether though ;o)

S2_Art is not an employee, we have a small and loyal fan base Alex nothing wrong with that and I believe he has explained this on another post after having the same accusation being made.

Yes I remember your order from last Monday. I am happy to post your shorts, current style, tomorrow first thing. I just thought as you were happy to wait for the Pro Team ones you didn't need regular emails telling you that they weren't available .. We are expecting them this month from the factory in Bury, your call? They have been busy ramping up for us to supply Orbea-FGS with their team kit.

For the record we are a small company that focusses on making great cycling kit in the UK. We don't set up dummy accts to do blogging, forums etc. Even if we had time it would be unethical and counterproductive really. Feel free to pop in to our office in Ilkley to say hello you are only over the hill and you'll see that we are for real. Which is exactly what S2_Art did last week. He came to the office as he wanted us to design his jerseys for the L2P 24hr ride he is doing for Scope.

Give me a shout first as home is Oxford so I am not in Ilkley every day, though Simon is in most days when he is not out visiting our suppliers.

    Kind regards, Pete

    Fair dos...

As I said I'm happy to wait! Looking forward to trying them... I did some nice riding round the area north of Ilkley last autumn, some stunning scenery!

It does look dodgy though when someone who's never posted on here before suddenly starts evangelising about a particular company

No worries, it surprises Simon and I just how people seem to get us once they get to meet us and come out riding with us. I have a bike in the office in Ilkley so we can get out for meetings on the road.

I remember getting swept away some 5 years ago by another UK cycling clothing company and buying lots of their stuff because of a similar passion for cycling... I am sure you can guess who I mean. I still have some of their gear too, though it doesnt get out much now...

As I said in the email... feel free to pop across and bring a bike, Simon is from Ilkley and knows some cracking rides..

    Best, Pete

Yeah I know how it can come across having just a few posts all about the same company :) btw, I got my Shutt shorts the other day. You won't be disapointed. They're better than my DHBs by a long way.

Just waiting for my shorts now after ordering yesterday, just hope they don't turn up to be a disappointment for 30 quid. Time will tell ... should be fine if the insert is any good.

well mine are on the way now, along with a gilet, so worst case I'll share my experiences soon. I was going to go Assos but it was too good to miss IMHO.

    Thanks Pete :)

    Jaaayyyssuussss you lot, ok .....

They seem good for the money, nice 'webbed' back to them and the DuPont pad feels quite substantial. The actual shorts feel very soft and thin at the same time.

Haven't been out on the bike in them of course, but I hope the insert stays in place whilst riding if you see what i mean.

So to summarise, without riding in them, quality I'd give 8/10 to them and the insert 7. Vfm - 10/10 I reckon. Hope this helps.

well I tried mine today but only indoors as it was cold as **** today...

They feel very very soft lycra, almost silky smooth, and noticeably softer than my previous shorts. The bib also feels nice and the shorter legs aren't a huge difference. TBH, I would hardly have noticed if it wasnt a discussion point for them. They finish a couple of inches from the top of my knee rather than across the top edge of my knee cap like a traditional cut short/bib/. The pad isnt as thick as my Assos bib tights but feels a little larger in area and when you wear them it feels very well fitted to the body. No nasty seams etc to cause any problems on first inspection. Hard to say more without a good long ride.

Proof of the pudding will be in the riding obviously but I would certainly give them a thumbs up for value at this price range.

BTW, I'm 6' with a 31.5" waist and 33" leg and the medium fits me perfectly :D

    Thanks Pete
