was just asking how you guys transport yours. I got on a boot mounted rack that great with my current hardtail or any full suss with a gap above shock, but i'm looking to buy a new Stumpjumper FSR and not sure how i would get it on my rack. I normally fit on bar under fork/headset area and the other by seapost/crossbar area. Cant do this on Stumpy because of shock obviously!!??

Do you only have your own bike on the rack?

I just take the wheels off and chuck it in the boot.(Minus the chuck)

put a support through a wheel resting on the rear triangle.

Anyone have any photos showing a stumpy safely strapped onto a bike rack?

When I had to put my 07 Stumpy (similar layout I believe) on a rear rack I used to put one support through under the headset and the other one on the rear wheel side of the seat tube. It stayed in place because of the type of strap, it came with the Halford bike rack and was a bit like an oversived Fenix lockblock made of rubber. Can't see them on the Halfords site. The other thing that might work would be a false crossbar.

If not just get a towbar mounted rack, best way really although a tad pricey.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Have you thought about a roof mounted option, then the shock position is not a problem. I roof mount my Stumpy 09 without problem.

Have you thought about one of these:

I've had one nearly 2 years. Fitted great on my 406 with a boot, fits great on my Focus since some chavs smashed into the back of my 406 :x

My EX8 and my gf's EX5 sit great on it and very very secure.

the issue is more that i already have a rear mounted rack and dont really want to buy a new one unless i have too. rather spend the cost on new bike
