HI,
Just bought my son a specialised sirrus sport 2010 and comes with this rather ugly crankset

Could anybody suggest a nice alternative around the £75-100 area
Thanks

  • Hi

Good God, that is one plug ugly device. Did it come with a free brown paper bag? I would go for a Stronglight IMPACT Triple chainset from Spa cycles. The cranks are 6061 forged alloy stamped XD2 with the Sugino crown logo so have a JIS taper as per the Shimano abomination. http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s109p3
Various options available for £74. Other Stronglight chainsets will have an ISO taper, maybe. Only the Impact will fit a Shimano/JIS taper BB. I own both a double and a triple on UN54 BBs and the chainrings are more durable than the Shimano offerings. Cheap and cheerful finish, but only the double came with extractors.

    Good Luck
  • thx, rest of the bike is real good looking though haha, rear derailler is pretty poo though
