Butterfly bars and bar end shifters, or ahead stem raiser?

I have some "Modolo Dumbo" adjustable butterfly/trekking bars that will be going spare soon, when the transformation of my Pylon8 into a XC bike is complete.
I believe the tubes are 25.4mm for the bars and randomly wondered if I could fit some 10-speed bar end shifters on the Dumbo, enabling me to significantly raise the front of my F5C racer (and thereby minimise chance of aggrivating my lower back muscles)?
The other alternative would be to fit an ahead stem raiser, which looks as if it could raise the current bars and STIs by upto 7cm. Are there any particular models that come recommended eg. SJS stock Zoom and Delta

Butterfly bars and drops are different diameter tubes, so you shouldn't be able to use bar end shifters. BUT I think drops are the narrower of the two and as the bar end shifters lock in place simply by an expanding cone then you should be able to make this work. Check the diameters of the tubes if you have both or check at your LBS.0

Hi Nitrous,
Are you looking to off load you trekking bars. If so I may be interested. How much were you looking for? Many thanks,

I've just fitted an ahead stem riser to save my back. It doesn't look too bad but I've not used it much yet. Will report back after a couple of longish rides. Cables didn't need changing so it's quite a cheap way of lifting the bars. You could try a shorter or steeper stem. Got mine from Byercycles but I see Spa Cycles have them as well.0
