Arm and Leg warmers

I get that they keep your arms and legs warm! But was looking for a little indication as to what they are like? Generally, are they any good? What temperatures would most be looking to wear them at? etc.
Legs? I currently have several pairs of bib shorts, a pair of ¾ length bib short and full length tights. So why would I want leg warmers?
Arms? Again I have several short sleeve cycling jerseys, a PBK fleeced long sleeve jersey and an Altura night vision jacket. So would arm warmers help or do I need to be looking for a Gilet, a lightweight jacket instead? I have had one or two boil in the bag moments!
I know I don’t have an extensive wardrobe, so what should my next purchase in the clothing department be? More clothing, or Arm and leg warmers? :?

arm warmers for cold starts, and as you get hot or the temp warms you peel em off.
leg warmers, same, or they just make your normal bibs into longer winter ones.
easy?
Why are they good? Well, they go in your pocket and give you an option. LS tops don't pack down if you need a change!0 -
agree with scrumple, arm warmers are handy for those early morning starts when there is still a bit of a chill, but you know it's going to get warmer later, especially if you doing long rides like sportives, you can take them off or just roll them down to wrists.
ain't got leg warmers so can't comment.0 -
Armwarmers are alot easier to pull up and down than a long sleeved jersey because they are wider at the top. If you can pull the sleeves on a long sleeve jersey up over your elbows then it would need really loose cuffs. I often have arm warmers pulled down when i'm climbing and then pull them back up for descents.0

so what makes a good armwarmer?
Are there any that offer a better fit and stay up well or does it all depend on your arm shape/size?

They are all lycra tubes.
The only thing you need to decide is colour, reflectives, and possibly fit. And what badge you want. I just spent £20 on some Assos ones for the label.
Trying some on at an LBS would be best. They are not meant to be hi tech - so just pick some you like the look of.0 -
I looked at the Assos ones, having just got the winter tights and been very impressed with quality, but where did you see them for £20?Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

awcycles had them for 20.99 (30% off all assos) and primera pricematched me them and an element zero gilet for under £130 all in.
Offer gone now... but you can try asking and quote that they recently did a pair for 20.990 -
You could try a pair of Merkalon armwarmers from Prendas for just £7.95 as an alternative to lycra. It more or less sock tube, which seems pretty close knit so should keep you warm enough for those early starts etc.0

**** - I want a few bits of Assos stuff so 30% off would have saved me a packet. Might try a quick call anyway and see if they playYour Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
