help v.much appreciated!

fork: sram xx (rock shox) reba 100mm

I think the dip is there so you can get the crown race back off easily.

Use the crown race that came with the headset.

Some (like FSA) brands use the same race for more than one h'set, but not ALL of their headsets. But as a rule no, cross-matching races can bugger your bearings up

Phone merlin, ask them to send you one, probably be for free (if thats where you got the bike AND the forks)

They are cool, threw in a starnut for me (mind yuo had just bought some SID WCs lol)

  • thanks for the help. I didn't even realise the race was custom to the headset rather than the fork! doh.

think i will phone merlin and ask what fits their headsets as I really would like to be able to switch between them regularly.
