How long should Shimano BB cups last?

Hi all,
I have had a Shimano Ultegra 6600 BB for about 3000 dry miles and I still don't really notice it at all (i.e. running smoothly and no noise), that's the problem, how long should they last? I'm thinking about getting the new 6700 chainset but I'm not sure I should get it with the 6700 BB since there is nothing wrong with my current one (or at least I don't notice the wear). I mean with that kind of mileage, chains and even tires need to be replaced right?
How often do you guys replace your Shimano external style BB cups?
Thanks in advance.

I have done well over 1200miles on 6600 cups and they still run good

Depends on whether you ride the bike in the wet without mudguards or not.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Nope, all dry miles, don't ride in rain nor wet. LBS said my BB didn't need facing which is understandable because the same frame also came stock with OE 5600 BB higher up in the range (mine came stock with ISIS but later upgraded to 6600) so it was probably faced in the factory. I don't use jet washers either.

Tens of thousands of km for me including plenty in the wet. I haven't yet had to replace one, I may just be lucky as I know others have needed replacement sooner.

Will the new 6700 bb cups last 6700 miles?
