Schlecks to start own team?
According to Gazzetta, moves are afoot.
The manager would be creepy old Marc Biver and they'd want to get the Chin-monster on board.
Who would replace them at Saxo / Lego / whatever they're called? Step forward Bertie Contador....

He was Phonaks manager, right ?? Funny looking chap with daft glasses ???0 -
He's an agent for the IMG group, acts on behalf of several riders. He stepped in to "save" the Liberty Seguros team after Manolo Saiz got thrown out, he helped broker the merger with Astana. He was then forced to step down after multiple positive tests within Astana.
The Gazzetta article suggests Specialized sponsored Astana and Saxo could merge, although with a new sponsor. But it also says Contador could go to the Caisse d'Eparge team, but under the name of Santander, the Spanish bank.
All this sounds like rumour and daydreaming, there's nothing to imagine any of this is more than just an idea.0 -
Sorry to high jack, but who was Phonaks DS/Manager when, errrrr, Floyd won the tour ??? :?0

Old Biver always makes me think of The Hood with specs;

Likewise, Lelangue was let down by guys behind the scenes but you could argue he was stupid to trust the likes of Landis, who had been a client of Michele Ferrari etc.0

arn't Specialized looking to be main sponsor of a team, could that be the Astana-Saxo collab, or could they be the main sponsor of the Schleck team?0

The Schleck's are boring boring boring.They seem like really nice people,but they are dull as cyclists.They just don't seem to have the real killer instinct to win any grand tour's.0

It'll come for Andy. He's 24 now and his mother is probably ready to let him go out his bike without his big brother to look after him.Twitter: @RichN950 -
I hope they are serious about creating a team but hope that Biver isn't attached. How about Cyrille Guimard? He actually has worked with Andy Schleck at Vélo Club Roubaix.0

The Schlecks need to concentrate their efforts on winning races - seems as thought their egos are taking over..............0

Doubt they would be able to cut their umbilical cord to Bjaerne Riis anyway.0
