Last Saturday my wife drove under a height restriction barrier with my Nero Corsa on the off - it's very very dead. I was in the passenger seat, it was horrible. I loved that bike too.

Luckliy last year, when renewing house insurance cover with my bank, I adopted for bike cover at some additional expense. I was suprised to learn that I was fully covered for this accident. I'm going to get an amount to cover the replacement of my bike i.e. a new carbon ribble bike with Ultegra. Cost me 75 pounds excess. So, I getting a reduced Look bike....(Ribbles are good but not that good!)

I had proof of everything and there is evidence of the accident - bent cycle carrier, remains of bike, even a witness, photos, nothing to contest really - but I'm amazed that it took less than 7 days to go through!

I'm chuffed and thought I should share as I've read other stories on BR of unhappy insurance customers.

Eek, sorry to hear that. I feel your pain... I've got that same bike. Love it to bits.

... and don't sit for days going "I must phone the insurance and get the new bike put on as a named item so I don't get stuck with a maximum £500 payout" until some Bristolian toerag takes a fancy to your carbon.

In fact, so traumatised was I by the size of the payout, I've just gone and bought a mountain bike with it.
