This week i purchased a new Giant Defy 4, the bike is only intended for work. My commute is 16Kms each way, so 16 gears and basic components is all i need. Anyway i am looking through the Giant owners manual and could not help but laugh at the advice given under the heading Night riding, this is what it says.
Night Riding
-Ride Slowly. WTF

Avoid Dark areas and areas of heavy or fast moving traffic. WTF

Avoid Road Hazards WTF
I may as well send the bike back

Don't forget, if you ever fall off you can sure them because there's no warning about falling off in the manual.

It's the usual kind of thing to be fair.

My Felt has a big sticker near the bottom bracket which reads along the lines: "...this bike conforms to such and such standards, but may not be road legal..." I expect that if I ever get pulled by plod for not having reflectors, a bell or lights then that sticker keeps Felt out of the courts.

Owners manuals are brilliant; I'm never surprised by the gems therein.

Bianchi used to be pretty famous for some of the translations in their manuals, don't know if they've got any better. My old Sunn came with a manual that was all based around these old french comic book characters. It was pretty cool actually (if no actual use!) :¬)
