It's selfish of her to expect you to go somewhere without the above, not the other way round.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Exactly. My original suggestion was to hire a camper and follow the tour for a week. So a fair compromise me thinks.

Funkeypunk: She's totally right, you know. So, go by yourself, hire a camper and follow the Tour, and buy a new bike with the money it would have taken to take the rest with you...
  • Ha. You absoloutly right. Thing is the new bike is already bought and parked up in the bedroom... For save keeping like.

Compromise? Where were you going and can it not be changed to allow for cycle interests? More details and perhaps a strategem can be hatched on here to aid your campaign

  • The plan is now to head for a Greece and a villa (with eurosport). With this years addition of a little one and all the paraphernalia that they come with there is sadly no room for a bike. Maybe i could suggest france, a villa, eurosport and near by a stage finish.

Now you are cooking. Southern France - Provence, Cote d'Azur? A gite? There is Pyractif in the Pyrenees but that might be a bit cheeky. What about the Orange area? Also prob.less flying time.

  • Less flying time would be a bonus! Thanks for the Pyractif tip just checked the site http://www.pyractif.com/ might have to try and get away on one of there mini breaks. I like the idea of heading down to south of france. A friend of mine has a yurt campsite http://canvaschic.com in the Rhône-Alps region, would easily be able to get to three mountain stages from there!

Of course there is Majorca (as usual!) V.bike friendly (hire not expensive) and v.nice. Club Pollentia is v.v.good (Not sure about satellite) and there are other hotels in the North of the island (Puerto Pollensa or Alcudia)

I'm getting married on 17th July and was very tempted to book our honeymoon in the Pyrenees but figured it's more than my life it worth.

Next years anniversary holiday however could be a different story

You could also opt for Haute Savoie, France.

Lots of MTBing to be had, chance to watch Le Tour boys gruel their way up hills and the weather, scenery and opportunities for your missus to go a-spa-ing on an afternoon off are cracking too.

This sounds awfully familiar - I too am in intense negotiations as to the form me and my girlfriends' summer holiday is going to take. The way it works is this: if you do stuff you want to do but she doesn't, that's selfish. If you do stuff she wants to do but you don't, that's a compromise.

I fell lucky a couple of years ago - just happened to find we had eurosport in the room....oh Giro's on...... the sun was far too hot for me by 3.00pm each day, so had to cool down in front of the telly with a few beers.........sorted.

Funkeypunk - may I suggest a slingbox and somewhere with broadband access? Its a really good little invention. Have been using mine out here in Belize and hooked up to a Sky+box it is amazing. http://www.slingbox.com/
