    Yep.

It'll rub in more gears when the chain's a bit crossed, but if you keep the chain straight, as you should, you won't even know it.

Does your frame have a braze on for the front mech?
If so - go for the braze on option,
Otherwise you need to measure the outside diameter of the seat tube (not the seat post) digital calipers are the easiest way of doing this

However, why not use a 9 speed tiagra one? It'll work just as well.

Gaz - is this your set up?

    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/groupset. ... _GS&bike=1

If so, you want the 28.6/31.8

EDIT: as will said, check if you hae the braze on though.

Cheers Will and CJ, There is no Braze on, the reason im looking at a 105 is the tiagra front Mech is broke and figured if I was going to replace it (and I REALLY do need to as the hills are killing me in the middle ring) I may as well use 105

Its good thanks mate, put a shade over 4500 miles on the clock in 2009, Had an RTA in January and was unable to walk/ride for 3 weeks, now lost the weight I put on over xmas and my accident lay off and im finally finding my form again, was just 90 seconds off my PB this AM (all while only being able to use the Middle ring I might add :) )

    Hows yourself these days ?

I'd rather replace with a 9-speed Tiagra triple mech than a 10-speed 105. The 9-speed will have the correct cage width and will shift better and rub less.

The 10-speed will work, but it will have performance disadvantages without any tangible benefits.

Sorry to hear about the RTA. :( Good news on the weight loss. :)

No so bad, mate. Riding myself ragged to stay in the top 10 of the Stats League.

I just made this upgrade, only with this ultegra (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13622) which is cheaper and, presumably, better :)

The install was fiddly, but then I'm really bad at front deraillers, but once I got it properly set I haven't found any problems with rubbing, which is more than I could usually say with the original tiagra derailler.

    '09 Enigma Eclipse with SRAM.
'10 Tifosi CK7 Audax Classic with assorted bits for the wet weather
'08 Boardman Hybrid Comp for the very wet weather.

Would 31.8mm fit my Ribble ?

Don't know - it if's the Ribble 7005 Winter/Audax bike they sell I would have assumed it's 27.2 (given you've said there's no braze-on): I'd always thought that the clamp size you need is the same as the seat post size, unless you have an insert in your seat tube to narrow it down. I had a braze-on, so didn't need to think about it!

No, since the tube wall can have a variety of thicknesses, the OD can be different even for the same seatpost size (and if it has butted tubing, you might even have a variety of ODs on the same tube. Safest way is to measure it. (or if you have the old one, I think the size is embosses on the inside of the clamp somewhere)
