hi as i have wrote in an earlier post i am looking at buying a 2007 kona kula frame.
I have spoke to the chap ( he's a local rider) and looked at the frame ant its in mint condition. he wants 450 for the frame, XTR crank set with bb and a chris king headset.
Is it worth it?

Well the king headset and xtr crankset are about 3-400 pounds combined anyway so probably. Have you tried the bike?0

no not yet its stripped down to them components so im just going to sell my current frame (a cannondale jekyll) and build it up with the componets im worried about how the bike will feel when its done, Also i weigh about 13st will that be ok or am i too heavy for such a frame?Specialized Tarmac - Team bike

well i'm 14st and I've ridden some xc bikes pretty hard and they were fine so you probably should be fine weight wise.
It's wether or not it's the right bike for you. i'm guessing it was a supreme since it has an xtr crankset? If it is then it was designed to work best with an 80mm rockshox sid so it's very xc race orientated0 -
ok and yes its a supreme and ive currently got a fox talas 32 80mm-130mm and ive been running them at about 80-100mm for the xc stuff. I just dont know if i should go hardtail or keep to full sus only problem is my budget for a frame and crank set is max £500. I did the hit the north 2 hour race about 2 weeks ago and thats what made me decide i need a lighter frame. The lads i ride with have like £3000 scoot sparks, cube xc, one has a kona kula 2008 and one a scott scale, but i just cant affored somthing so pricey.Specialized Tarmac - Team bike

How about On-One?
There scandal is only 3.5lbs or something close to that. thats designed for 80-130 travel I think. Perfect for you and only about 200 quid.
Look at the Race Face Evolve XC and a Hope bottom braket. You should be able to get all that for 500 and have some change.
If you want something to take big hits then their 456 doesn't look to bad at about 150 quid but also weighs just over 5lbs although my stumpy's frame weighs about that and it flies up hills
Hope this helps0 -
ok will do mate thanks for the help ive got my heart set on the kona because of the bits its got in it but im going to look at other things know uve mentioned it. I just dont want to get the kona and wreck it because im to big for it.Specialized Tarmac - Team bike
