Spesh tyres are pretty fat for the sizing. Anyone got the 2.2 Captains? If so, what do you think and how do they feel on the trail?
I've had the 2.0 2Bliss and was not impressed with the leaking sidewalls, but may give them another go with a foaming sealant. They're thin in construction but performed well on the trail when inflated.

i have them on my stumpy and they are very cool. ike you say, they are quite fat but i like that. i think it is fairer to say that they are as wide as is stated on the side wall once inflated. they arent brill in slop (but what tyres are!?) but on soft ground they are good and on firmer trails they are superb.0

You have the 2.2 on the front and 2.0 out back? Would you stick with that or have uniform both ends. Was looking at 2 x 2.2's but a thinner at the rear may be better.0

mine are both 2.20

don't take them near anything remotly loose or mildly moist and you'll be fineBikes are OK, I guess... :-)

i have a 2.2 rear, and yes it is fat, but i have a hardtail, so fat tyres are good on the rear. don't think that the fatness will make it slow though- it's very fast rolling, and quite light too, and more puncture resistant than my front tyre (maxxis ardent 2.25) - i've never had a puncture with it!0

Cheers chaps. They look like a winner price wise. Just need to keep them inflated on the Crossmax rims. I had issues last time as they are not true UST tyres.0

i have them on a set of crossmax st wheels and they have been faultless in tubeless fashion:

Sounds good. What sealant are you using. Mine had air seeping through the sidewalls and were at 20 PSI from 40 within 3 hours of riding.0

i use stans, 1 cup in each wheel. they went up and stayed up fine. over the space of about 3 months of not being ridden they did drop to around 15 psi from 30 but since i topped them up last week for a quick spin round the block hey have remained spot on.0

I have a 2.2 on the front and 2.0 on the back, personal preference on a HT, but it works good for me.mudsucker wrote:don't take them near anything remotly loose or mildly moist and you'll be fine
Granted, they're not a mud tyre by a long way, but I haven't encountered any problems with either loose or moist conditions (running tubeless and lowish pressures though)0 -
Right. I've got me some 2.2's and some of Spesh's own tubeless sealant. Roll on Forest of Dean!!!!0

you think those are bad in mud?! you should try spesh crossroads heh though they are amazing on hardpack0

Got the 2.2's on my Crossmax ST's and they're okay. Feel odd at first as they are so thin with my 16 stone on top of them. Back has stayed up but the front lost 15 psi in a couple of hours. I'll keep them spinning and see how they go.
I must say, they are fast.
Lookinf forward to the Forest of Dean but I'm not sure about taking those thin sidewalls to Afan. We'll see.
Cheers for the prompt to get these, Sheepsteeth!!!0 -
hope they work well for you,0
