Saracen Mantra fork swap

Okay the stock suntour forks on my mantra are really pissing me off, so i wanna chuck them and get summat else. I'm looking at maybe getting some Manitou Nixon's in 145mm form as the race to axle length is 518mm compared to 510-512mm for the stock suntours and they're cheap seeing as no-one wants manitous any more.
Will they be okay on my bike and not ruin the handling the extra length concerned me however they'll be running more sag instead of being siezed up in cold weather as elastomer forks do i reckon it'll be alright, any thoughts?

i have no idea as it was 2nd hand
it's 130mm standard however i use that term loosely seeing as 1:the suntours have 100mm max and 2:travel doesn't dictate geometry the race to axle does0 -
what year is it and I will try and find out for you0

it's a 2009 saracen mantra vx (disk brake model), but i haven't got any warranty issues they won't honour it for 2nd hand bikes, main thing is whether that extra 8-10mm of fork length will ruin the handling0

It probably will because it was not designed for this amount of travel.
Why not try and get some travel adjustable forks and then you will have no issues0 -
well i reckon with the suntours running pretty much nil sag (i ride it to work at 7am daily through winter) once on the bike the manitou's being decent forks will sag correctly, so once on i reckon it'd be fine.
I just wanna keep it simple and cost effective, the bike ain't worth expensive upgrades really0 -
It's your call but personally I would be trying to get some 2nd hand pikes or something0

130mm toras, perhaps. i'm not sure about having 145mm forks on a mantra, i will however say that i had one and killed the forks in a little over 10 or 11 weeks upgraded to RS toras and coil u-turns and they were the bomb.
although i wouldn't expect the handling to be to much different with the axle to crown only being 6mm longer.Fancy a brew?0 -
That was my thought to be honest, and yeah the tora's do look good forks and as ever i'm not a huge manitou fan, i just wanna keep it cheap. I'll see what pops up though might pick up a bargain0
