Fitted new change now having problems

When in a stand the gears shift up and down fine and there's no problem.

However, when riding when using the middle geares of the cassette there is major clunk at the bottom of the pedal stroke and the rear derailleur seems to click back. No matter what I do with the cable tension it keeps happening.

I replaced the chain when it got to 0.75 so there shouldn't be a problem with the cassette.

Can anyone offer any help or am I off to the bike shop tomorrow?

Have you tried adjusting the barrel on the rear mech to fine tune the cable?

Yes . The shifting is working fine it's just slipping on certain gears.

I've ordered a new cassette since even if that doesn't work a spare is always good. Hopefully that will sort it but it doesn't look like it needs replacing.

You've got a stiff link in the chain.

Run it turn the pedals backwards until you see the derailleur jump about a bit You should be able to see where the stiff link is, and feel the stiffness as you flex it. To solve it, flex it hard laterally, the way it doesn't normally go. That will push the end plates apart very slightly, loosening up the link.

I tried that and it runs fine.

I've taken the cassette off and noticed that on some of the sprockets there's a lip at the front edge where the metal seems to have been pushed forward slightly.

Fingers crossed the new cassette will sort it as I need the bike to get to work next week.

see here two cogs overlapped with the worn one in the front.

the "front edge" does not get worn.

Few days off work and my use of English has gone right down the pan.

I meant there's a lip at the back of some of the teeth on certain cogs. It seems to be on my most used ones - the ones that are skipping constantly.

I tried taking pics but couldn't get them focused in enough to show it.

It's an SRAM 950 11-28t I expected it to last a lot longer.

That's what I meant about my English failing badly.

The thread title was supposed to be fitted a new chain
