Hello all,

Thinking of going to Stainburn near Leeds on Friday for the first time. My question is are the trails well marked like Dalby Forest or should I do some detective work online before travelling there and if there are a few trails which one is best. Also conditions would be nice to know if anyone has been recently.
Cheers
Simon

Take a look on Singletractions Website
(they are the group which build/maintain the trails at stainburn)

Stainburn is my local forest but is not my kind of riding
(I like my teeth in my mouth at the moment)

The Boulder Trail is very technical which if that is what your looking for, you will enjoy it.

But dont expect Dalby, Gisburn, cannock type riding, stainburn trails are very short which is ok for local's, not much good for long rides.

Im sure they are others which can post there opinion, thats my thoughts anyway.

Errr the postings OK....ish! The boulder trail is reasonably well signed and is very technical, not at all like Dalby, so I hope you're expecting that. The descent line is very obvious so doesn't really need signing. Just ride up the road from the car park until the end of the woods on the left. Most of the good stuff is actually on the opposite side of the road to the car park but isn't signed, or atleast it isn't anymore, so that could be worth an explore. There's a trail map somewhere on Singletraction's website which should help.

As the previous poster said, don't go there expecting a nice long all day ride. The loops are very short, steep and technical. Good for local riders (like me :D ) to go up for the odd afternoon and session certain bits.
