So now that Microsoft has been given a slap on the wrists, everyone's talking about differnet internet browers.
I've been using firefox for ages now, but am giving Chrome a fair go.
It's not bad. My screen seems very big with it, given the lack of clutter above the window.
Anyone got any opinions on the matter?
I'm assuming anyone who suggests they may prefer IE will probably get banned.

I'm a Chrome fan.0

Used to use Opera, but they stuck hard to the web rules while more and more websites didn't. So more and more websites wouldn't work properly. They may have sorted it by now, but I've moved on.
Now on Firefox.0 -
Mac=Safari, PC=Chrome, for me. I've just never really liked Firefox, on either platform, though I obviously used it over IE.0

I occasionally get locked out of the bikeradar forum using FF, which is still my default browser. Chrome though has never let me down.0

I installed, tried and removed Chrome this evening. It wasn't noticabily faster to load a page than IE, had just as many erroneous 'page not found' massages and the history/favourite menus were not as easy to access. Chrome also refused to remember the password option that I had selected. To err is human, but to make a real balls up takes a super computer.0

I'm a mac user so its safari for me, although up until the latest version I used caminio which is a firefox based browser. Has anyone tried using the windoze version of safari?0

^^ I have issues with Apple trying to take over the world.
Which is why, naturally, I went for google's chrome....
Seriously though, I think Apple honestly hate PCs, and any software they make for it (say I tunes) is just a way for them to constnatly shout at you "YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MAC".
Certainly my experience of I tunes.0 -
I like Opera, but it's started to get bloated (ie, has email, IRC, torrents etc) and as has been mentioned some sites don't show very well, but that's only a few. I have to admit I really love it's speed dial more then anything.
I also use Firefox with NoScripts if I have to go into web territory that's a bit dodgyCAAD9

I've tried Firefox and found no avantages over IE8 that I can think of - doesn't seem to load faster, not any more stable, interface isn't any better. And more sites don't work in it.
But everyone keeps going on about how much better it is so I guess I must just be using a different internet to them.0 -

Lets not make this into a mac vs pc debate. On the itunes thing though I don't really agree with you. If you have an ipod, and a high percentage of households these days have at least one, then itunes gives you a simple hassle free way of managing you're music on it. Ok you may not agree with the charges on the itunes store (they can be on the steep side) but there is no obligation to buy anything from it. If microsoft had invented ipod/itunes you might be singing its praises...
Maybe you should have bought a mac...

Can't stand IE8 anyway, horrifically unreliable, slow and clunky IME, changed to FF ages ago, much better uses lots of RAM sometimes, but that's OK if you've got a good PC.
Chrome is OK but I don't really like the way it looks. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
IE8 for me.
I've tried all the others several times over the years and couldn't see any advantage.0 -
this chrome im trying doesnt look as nie on the screen, explorer looks nicer0

I've been using Safari as my mac.com account it lets me sync its bookmarks between the home Mac and work PC. Safari's also recently adopted a Chrome-esque "top sites" page which is pretty handy.0

FF although have been having the occasional screen with nothing on it recently :x0

I hate IE because my HDD used to always be active when I used it.
Have had a mac for a year now and it's Safari for me. A couple of times a site won't load (not safari's fault, it's site designer not adhereing to a specific standard or something) so would use Firefox on occasionSpecialized Roubaix Pro Expert 2020

Surprised to hear people have problems with firefox.
Works perfectly for me.
I heard chrome was functionally a bit smarter, so hence the try.
Seems good thus far.
I am a serious google.com addict anyway, so I'd imagine chrome suits my browsing habits.

I tend to use Firefox, I nearly always have 5+ tabs open (over the day the number slowly increases and I keep open the ones that I need to reference with work (with the weather, here and news open as standard), once I no longer need them I then close the tab) and IE can't cope with it, slows my machine down and on occasion will break on a number of pages where you have to click the button adjacent the address bar to make it work!
Firefox i have not really had any trouble with except on one website that is work related and will only work with IE (chrome has the same issue with it as firefox) so that is set as the home page on IE and it is all it is used for.
It all depends on what you want from a browser, each has a different quirk.Specialized Allez Sport 20100 -
Firefox here, used to use Opera but love the better customisation of Firefox.
What's the browser selection screen everyone was supposed to get yesterday when opening IE? I never got it and I ran Windows Update to get all the latest updates and they downloaded fine.0 -

youve already chosen a different browser?
I got it and im back on ie8 already.
I have no problems with it, no end of tabs and it works very quickly but then i havent added loads of add ons to it0 -
Safari (Mac) and Firefox (PC) at home.
IE6 at work - it's f***ing dire, loads of sites now don't work on it, and our IT department have no plans to upgrade - although the head of IT has been fired, so there is some hope....0 -
Firefox here. Love it because I've got Flashblock, NoScript, and Remove It Permanently (I. Just. Hate. Ads), and a couple of web-development tools.
And I'm on a Linux box. Geek, you see.Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -

If Firefox is set as your default browser you will not get the pop up box. The pop up is purely for IE default browser users
