Hi all,
I am looking to get a replacement bike under the Cyclesheme. It will be used on weekends for XC, singletrack and general off road/trail centre use. Additionally I am planning to ride from Lands End to John o Groats (off road) next year.

My budget is £1000 (under the cycle scheme) and I don't want to get a Full Suss. I have had a couple of Orange bikes in the past (Clockwork and a Gringo) and just would prefer a decent hardtail.

What do people reckon? I have been looking at:
Orange P7
Boardman HT Pro
Charge Duster (09)
cube ltd race
Genesis Altitude 10

None of my local shops stock any of these which is a real bummer however I will travel to try a couple once I have narrowed down my choices. Any advice (or any other options that I haven't considered)would therefore be appreciated!

Quite a range there - from racy aluminium xc bikes like the Cube, to long travel steel all round bikes like the orange.

Is it a racier, longer steeper type of bike you want?

I guess I really need a bike that I am going to be comfortable on all day (as will be riding it for a couple ofl weeks non-stop. I also want it to be fun however for the weekends.

    Any recommendations?
