Hi,
putting aside groupset preferences-i know, its not easy sometimes- is there a compelling reason such as weight not to choose this over the similarly priced shimano basic build?
I rang Planet x and ended up speaking to 2 very helpful guys there with each expressing a groupset based preference!! No help on weight or anything but differences may be negligable.
cheers

Sram is generally lighter than Shimano but you should pick whichever feels best - small weight differences are insignificant compared to how the you like the feel of the group.0

The biggest difference is the gear change action, but you probably know that. Both are easy enough to get to grips with. I find SRAM more difficult to set up properly than Shimano, but that's probably just me."The only absolute statement is that everything is relative" - anon0

Thanks guys for the responses.
I have only ridden sram once and no experience of shimano so 6 of one etc.
The brakes on the sram build are non sram and just wondeing if the alternatives are as good. have google reviews but found nothing.
Anyone know?0 -
ive a PX with the CNC brakes....i don't know if these are the ones on offer, but i'be cound them a bit of a pain to set up.
They are on my TT bike, so its not too much of an issue, but they are only single pivot. They are super light and really narrow, so nice and aero, but the shimano dual pivot brakes on my road bike are soo much easier to set up wrt the cable clamp and left right cable pull bias
