Has any managed to buy the 2010 CAAD9 as a frameset? If so did it come with a fork, headset etc? Sorry to pick your brains!

I tried and failed, as I was recently looking at the possibility of either a new frame or bike.

A bike shop told me that they don't do it as frame only.

Maybe more easily available in the USA ? Even via ebay ?

It may be simplest just to buy a bottom of the range CAAD9 (with Tiagra?) and sell off the bits you don't want on here or ebay. It might be the cheapest way to get the frame, forks etc.

  • I was looking into that as well as a good frame for training and racing/crits where I don't want to risk the first bike, but again couldn't find anywhere. I think someone would have a decent business selling those frames - on ebay last week a 2007 CAAD9 went for £265, so I imagine a new one would fetch decent money.

That's not a bad shout - Tiagra model £999, CTW scheme it, sell the bits, almost free frame!

That's gotta be the best way round it, you'd still get same warranty on the frame too.

Yes, the only catch is that if you want the premium fork - it's only available on the Ultegra version which is about £1600. If you're not worried about that - the Tiagra version is probably the way to go - if you can't get it on cycle to work - you can probably at least get interest free credit

    Premium or Ultra (?) fork?

Hopefully the 2011 CAAD10s will come with an SRAM option, and then I'll buy one. The US already get SRAM options, shame we don't.

Good question and I agree on the SRAM too - hopefully they will sort this for next year.
