Check out CarbonCycles they have great value options in both carbon and alu.0
-
seat post needs to be 30.9 and carbon cycles dont do one to fit :?0
-
then Post Moderne Smica Pro Alloy gets recommended for lightweight and value

SMICA are great posts. KORE are often overlooked, and do a range of quality and lightweight kit:

if you can stretch to £129

i bought the evolve version when it was in stock for £70 which is next one down from the deus0 -
Stem's the only one I seem to have a firm opinion on, Gusset's Staff is superb- light, very good looking, and inexpensive, and comes with lots of options despite the budget. (shims for thinner bars, and a choice of 2 faceplates). Main body only comes in black, and there's no 70mm yet but other than that they're very hard to argue with I think.Uncompromising extremist0

this is just my personal preference as i what i have on my bike0 -
Mmm, I've got that Sunline bar, it's a decent price I guess but I'm not all that convinced, it's not light and the anodising is poor. I know not everyone's a weight weenie like me
Not sure I'd buy them again.

for handlebars, fsa gravity lite are the winners. at on one, £20 reduced from £70, 260 grams, but strong enough for light dh/freeride, 680mm wide 31.8 oversize: http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/i ... CGRCW.html
Gusset staff looks good for a stem. haven't used one but would buy it if i was buying a stem.
that's £45, so would leave you with enough for a thompson seatpost. but i'd get an fsa gravity: http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Gravity%20By%20 ... _30773.htm0 -
ive got that bar and ive had no problems with the painting and the weight is not to bad but i have not had any other bars to compare it to but i will be looking at some carbon ones in time0
-
the sunline? the fsa gravity is a better bar for half the price :roll:0

i think things like bars are personal preference0 -
Light, strong, cheap...Pick two. 8)
Save up and get Thomson and some Easton bars on ebay or something and save yourself from binning cheap rubbish later.
I know, I learned the hard way..
But now?0 -
There is no cheap rubbish here that has been mentioned. I have seen more broken Thomson stems than any other stem.0

fsa gravity lite - strong, light and cheap (on sale at on-one)

That FSA Gravity Lite looks like what I ought to have bought really
Not that there's anything wrong with the Sunlines other than the price. It's a nice shape and good width for these mad "680mm is too narrow" days
Truvativ AKA is another stem worth looking at, lighter than Thomson and just as strong (again). But not IMO as good as the Staff.
Easton's carbon bars are very, very good but also way out of budget here for new ones, so it'd mean the used carbon gamble. Their alloy ones are good quality but a bit expensive.Uncompromising extremist0 -
wow that clears it up some more soo..
bars - FSA gravity - http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/i ... CGRCW.html
Stem - gusset staff - http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/produc ... 0&id=13011 (anyone got a chaper site?)
now just need seatpost (30.9) got about 40-50 i can spend on it so i want something decent...
cheers for the help soo far0 -
oh missed james post...
seat post - FSA gravity (http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Gravity%20By%20 ... _30773.htm)
is that a good sorted combo? any advances or anywere cheaper, or voucher codes etc etc?0 -
The SMICA - cheaper, probably stronger, definitely lighter.0
-
do you know how much they charge for delivery?
and from this site? - http://www.sbrsports.com/339-463419?c=ukp0 -
Oh, the exotic stems are perfectly decent too btw... Not as nice looking and from my recollections not all that strong feeling, then mine was longer and it's not fair to compare a 90mm stem to a 60mm. But they're quite uglyUncompromising extremist0

and therefore not going on my bike :P (being ugly and that) im loving the gusset staff tbh0 -
Well, they are black with a small orange logo lol.
I got the scandium riser bar, carbon ti seastpost and 80mm meta stem for a princely sum of £75. Total weight 550g!0 -

are they any good though?0 -
They are bloody fantastic! Many many people use them.
Nothing better for the money really, though the seatpost definitely is an XC item.0 -
ill probably stick to the 3 i said...comes in at £71 for 406g for bars/stem... does anyone have the weight of the SMICA pro alloy seat post?0
-
233g for the 31.6x350mm, 218g for the 27.2x350mm.
So probably somewhere in the middle of that!0 -
so about £70 for 630g? no bad! and for the strength i cant argue...if someone doesnt come up with a better option ill be buying these tomorrow0
