Yes, I had to change the stem and bars as it was far too over perched for my liking.Craig Rogers0

Next on the upgrade list is a seatpost. Does anyone know where I can get a 26.8mm Seatpost for under £30.
I've only seen this one:

I'm having difficulty finding a 26.8mm seat post for my Scott Aspect 45... Same model as yours except mine has been upgraded with Flat Bars and Bar Ends... +1 for the same wheels as mine :P Mine came with a set of Deore Disc brakes as well. Oh another +1 for riding the same frame as me :P0

wanted a new seat post for mine, but could never find a decent one, oh well, tbh spend the money on new tires or something
or spare mech hanger, mine broke last year, took out the chain, rear mech, and about 5 spokes, and almost the rim, and me

I've never had a problem with my rear mech hanger to be honest. I find the chain claps the rear chain stay a lot no matter how good a rear mech you have. Especially over the rooty descents and the real bumpy stuff where the aluminium has very little to no flex in it at all.0

mine snapped without warning, on a fast descent in the dark :shock:Giant Trance X0 (08) Reverb, Hope Hoops 5.1D, XT brakes, RQ BC, Works Components headset 1.50

I dont think the weight will be much of an issue have you felt how heavy the Scott 45 frame is when there is nothing one it? It's still pretty darn heavy. Having a solid seat post like the race face one will bling it up and wont add that much weight to the bike if you want to save weight get lighter wheels and forks.0

UPDATE!
New 'pimpage' added.
KCNC Chainring bolts in red!
Hope Space Doctors in red!
Superstar Titanium axle Skewers also in red!
NC-17 Bottle cage bolts in erm.... red!
And a pic of the whole bike now!
So what do you peeps think?0 -
Looks very good. I'm converting my new fully to red colour scheme as well, just looks darn tasty!0
-
Yeah, I think red was the best colour I could have added to the bike.
I'll probably get a red seat post Q/R.
any other red bits I could 'bling' it up with?
Suggestions welcome!0 -
Did you get your toras from ribble? If you did, what travel did they come set as?0

No, I got them from Merlin Cycles, they are set as 100mm, but I don't think they are available anymore.0 -
how much snow do you guys have in yorkshire ?????!!!!!!!!!!0
-
Yeah, we've had loads over the past week, it's starting to thaw out now.
tbh, when there's this much it just doesn't work for riding in.
That's usually a road....0 -
That's a truly glorious looking bike - I too have the '08 model - but you have followed through with a penchant for red parts.
How big an improvement over the Suntours were the Toras? I'm utterly in two minds about upgrading - I am of limited means and every time i ride my aspect it seems gloriously good as is. Yet....0 -
Thanks for the comments!
I've been very impressed with the tora's from day one. I've just had them serviced by my lbs after a year’s hard riding and they still have that same smooth feel to them. I didn't book them in for any particular reason I just thought it would be better to have them regularly maintained. They are a vast improvement over the Suntour fork which I had previously. I went through two Suntour's before owning my tora's. They both just seemed to stiffen up in the mud and rain.
My advice would be to upgrade when you start to feel the limits of what the fork will take. If it's fine how it is then I would leave it until it either, starts to perform badly or break or you start reach the limits of the fork.0 -
The colour scheme reminds me of XR3i's i loved the grey fleck interior how it matched the gun metal grey, really nice bike mate0

A couple of replacement parts added:
Panaracer Fire XC Pro Kevlar 2.1 (Black )
Shimano HG61 11-32 Cassette
KMC X9-93 Chain
Shimano XT Front Mech
Black tyres I know, would have got red ones again but Merlin Cycles had a cracking deal on some kevlar ones with free tubes. These were mainly replacement parts for bits which have worn out. Unfortunately this is taking a back seat as I've now got the Giant and funds are low

Black tyres look better, red ones were just excessive and juvenile
The bike looks sweet now, I'm a big fan of your Reign aswell...0 -
Cheers! I suppose they were a bit chavy. At least these kevlar ones will be lighter than the red wire bead ones.0

Loving this thread - I've got a 2008 Aspect 20 I'm about to put new wheels/brakes/bar/stem/pedals on (already swapped the Dart 2 for a Reba and stuck a Bel Air Ti on - like you, I'm struggling to find nice 26.8 posts, though). Really could do with a new drivetrain too...0

A few changes have been made to the bike recently. I have I changed the rear wheel to a spare one as the freehub has broken on the old one and I've bought new brakes.
The brakes are Shimano Deore BR - M596. I got them from Rose Bikes for much cheaper than over here in the UK. Shortening the hoses and swapping the levers over was pretty easy so I'm glad I went for them rather than some older BR - M595's which are almost twice the price from Merlin Cycles!
Anyway here's some pictures:
