Came across this offer- the more who sign up the cheaper the wheels get.

http://pedalforce.com/online/index.php?cPath=21_101851&osCsid=f32afd58cc1a3ec92154411b794a4622

Have already bought a bike & had it shipped over. No problems whatsoever. I can recommend the company.

Any thoughts on the wheels on offer?

  • I thought reading this: rip off.

    And found this: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/tech/bik ... -fork.html

In the end, might be genuine?
FCN 4(?) (Commuter - Genesis Croix de Fer)
FCN 3 (Roadie - Viner Perfecta)

I do apologise to the OP, but you gotta admit coming on with a first post telling us about a great deal in a far away land is always going to be viewed as dodgey.

PedalForce have a pretty good reputation. The RS2 they sell (and have for a few years) is the same frame as the Ribble Sportive. Their group buys seem to be popular too but the wheels are not something I've seen them do before.... they are probably fine as I imagine they wouldn't be running the offer if they thought they might cause trouble. Their latest frame groupbuy looks good too - shame the geometry doesn't work for me.

Nothing wrong with PF, but anyone in the UK buying from them should be aware that they're likely to be hit for import duty and VAT and possibly a handling charge which could add up to 20-25% on top of the price.
  • Already have a set of DT Swiss Mon Chasserals at 1450g which I am very happy with which cost £600.
The C-4 2.2 comes in at an alleged 1368g with DT Swiss spokes for around £460 inc duties@25%
Seems the hubs & rims are in-house.
Anyone heard of Niobium rims? Found this on another website -

    NIOBIUM ENHANCED
    SUPER ALLOY

"Niobium" is a real word. It isn't something
cooked up by marketing. It is actually an
element on the periodic table (Nb). It has
    been difficult to alloy Niobium
and Aluminum together, because of their
    vastly different melting points.
But now that has been figured out, we
have a new alloy with nearly double the
tensile strength and a finer grain structure
    over conventional aluminium.

Niobium rims are pretty popular and well regarded - the two most common brands are Kinlin and IRD. Very popular in the US but not so well known here. Various bigger brands use Niobium rims too. Take a look at Roadbikereview or Weightweenies for lots on these rims. They're supposed to be pretty tough.

    Yeah, got the RS2.
Frame £570, SRAM Force groupset £570 which included all the duties due to Customs & Excise which incidentally worked out at 7% (they made a mistake somewhere). A 16lb bike for £1500 excluding wheels.

Nice one - how do you like it? I like the fact that they're not plastered with logos like so many other bikes.

That was one thing that put me off the Ribble Sportive, that & being red!
Have put it together after Xmas but saving it for racing. Haven't ventured out on it yet due to the horrible weather we've had, waiting for a dry day. Only had it on the turbo so far.
