clincher means bog-standard beaded edge tyre to fit with an inner tube on rim with hooked edges to retain it.

    The alternative is a tubular tyre, which has no inner tube but needs to be glued to the rims.
    Tubs ride better, they are what all the pro peleton uses, but are significantly more hassle if you get a puncture.
    If you have a team car following with spare wheels, tubs are great, if not then get clinchers.
