Holiday in Italy

Good morning folks,
I'm usually a reader on here but thought i'd ask for some help today.
Apologies if this is on here already, i did a search but the answers were not exactly what i was after.
I'm planning a trip to Italy this summer, six of us are going to do the Mortirolo, Gavia etc, and was wondering if anyone had experience of camping or renting cheap chalets/ apartments for a week in or around Bormio?
The hotels i found are a little out of my price range.
Last year i went to Bourg d'oisans and had a great time staying on a campsite there so i know the downside to camping, over staying in an actual room with laundry facilities but hey, money is tight.
If anyone has any ideas or recommendations, i'd love to hear them.
cheers.

Yes, they do. The ones i stayed in Bourg and chamonix had great facilities, i guess the point i was trying to make was that, all of the experiences or advice already on here, it was all relating to bell and whistle hotels, these are out of my price range.0 -
In my experience, Italian hotels are overpriced.
Try looking at self catering instead.None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

I agree, that's what my original post asks.
I wondered if anyone had stayed self catering and had a good contact or link?
Or, if it's safe to just roll up and hope to find a campsite?0
