    Getting a road bike, made far distances attainable for me. This subsequently translating into speed.

    My roadie while, heavy old steel lump. is faster slightly than my other bikes but, where it really gains is distance and comfort.

    i can take the MTB even with mud tires and sprint etc, but the extra weight etc tells in time.
