chain slips going uphill

Going up hill occasionally the chain slips off the front large ring onto the small ring.
Is this a symptom of the chain needing replacing?

    could be, but your gears may just need tweeking.
    take it to a bike shop and ask them to check the chain for wear with a chain checker.
    If it is very worn you will also need to change the chain and cassette

    Hi there, maybe more likely to be your front mech adjustment as Pete says, unless the chain is seriously shagged, but if the latter was the case then it would be slipping really badly on the back.

    -new chain sorted out my problems.
