Hi,

Just bought this bike off e-bay. It's an ? Edge Ultimate carbon. Carbon frame, Sram red groupset, TRP carbon brakes, novatec speedy wheels.

I had a look on the web to try and find some info about the bike but couldn't find any? Despite this I thought I would buy it anyway. It arrived a couple of days ago and it's absolutely superb. Just under 7kg in weight it really flies!

Can anybody enlighten me as to who Edge is?

Thanks,
Stevie.

Not the Edge who make highly regarded wheels and components.

Firstly, they're nothing to do with Edge Composites, the company that makes high-end carbon rims and forks. Beyond that, I'm not sure. It's most likely a guy with links in the industry, specifically the factories in China and Taiwan where 95% of bike frames are made. He'll pick up a bunch of generic frames and rebrand them. Similar frames are all over Alibaba etc. The mix of carbon on yours (T700, M30) seems to be fairly mid-range - it won't be a Specialized SL3 or Cervelo R3-SL, but it's not a Planet-X or Boardman frame either in terms of material quality.

All this is my best guess - others can perhaps shed more light.

  • Ah, big thanks for that. Looks like it may be them!

I have a frame number so may e-mail them and ask if bike is one of theirs!

Was hoping Bono could help me but he ignored my calls!

  • I agree, not Specialized quality ( I have a Specialized Allez Elite) but not Netto quality either.

I paid £1600, which I thought was pretty good value considering the Sram red groupset and TRP brakes would come to over a grand bought seperately.

It rides really well, even with cheapy Novatec speedy wheels, I will upgrade these come spring. I'm fairly new to cycling so I won't be flexing any frames at the finish line!

    Thanks for the info.
