Campagnolo Ergopower gear cable casing (4.1mm)

Okay I’m moving my 2009 Campag Veloce 10sp Groupset (Ergopower, Ultrashift levers) from one frame to another. All is going well except…

… the handlebar-downtube cable stop distance has increased and so the gear cable casings I have cut for the old frame are no longer long enough. Am I stuck with shelling out for the complete Ergopower cable set to be able to get my hands on the narrower Campag 4.1mm diameter casings? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cam ... t-ec011540

Or is there an alternative which I can go for?

You should be able to use pretty much any gear outer cable. Gear and brake cables are different diameters in pretty much all makes.

Your LBS can surely supply you with a couple of pieces for a couple of quid. Should cost no more than perhaps 1 pound a metre for the outer. I have quite successfully used Shimano gear cable outer with Campagnolo Chorus shifters and derailleurs.

Thanks chaps, I'll have a word with the LBS. I'm popping down there tonight for a seatpost, handlebar tape and quick link so I'd like to think they'll try and help me out!

I'm open to using any cable as long as it is 4.1mm diameter to fit into the 2009 lever body.

I just thought I would update the thread. I popped into my LBS this evening to get the parts I needed. The guy explained that they didn't see many Campag bikes (the odd Bianchi) so they only had the full Ergopower sets for £23. Anyway, he cut me just over a metre of Clarks gear cable housing from the workshop and threw in some ferrules/crimps. £3
