About to buy my 1st MTB: Boardman Pro or Team?

I'm about to but my 1st MTB (I have a couple of good road bikes already) for more family orientated rides off road and on trails.

I'm getting it through C2W scheme and am prepared to spend the full £1k. But is it worth paying the extra £150 to get the Boardman Pro instead of the Boardman Team?

Would you really notice the difference for the type of riding you're doing? Probably not...

I went for the Pro because I preferred the colour and wanted the X0 rear mech to add some X0 shifters to.

If you need to get some kit, the spare £150 may come in useful if you got the team. If not and you wouldn't miss the money, go for the Pro, you know you want to

Just go for the Pro you get £100 accessories voucher at the moment for Boardman Pro anyway.
  • In terms of fucntionality there is little in it,XO rear mech over an X9,X9 shifters over X7,Sylo cranks over Firex, carbon levers on the brakes and an external floodgate on the forks, aren`t really that big a deal but If its on c2w I`d go for the Pro given that as a monthly salary sacrifice and with the 40-50% saving, its peanuts extra each month.

:D Of course I want the Pro :D

But as my current experience is purely road bikes, £150 does get you much more when buying a road bike.

As for the colour, oddly I do prefer the white, it will compliment my new Black road bike. 8)

I'm peculiarly excited at the arrival of my first MTB and by all accounts it's a good one too?

I love mine, it's an 08 though, so duct tape grey rather than white!

You may well need to splash some cash for a new saddle, pedals and tyres, just something to bear in mind.

The grey from the Team is also very nice but I preferred the white personally and its also metallic rather than a matt finish.

Probably one of the best value for money, best spec'd XC hardtails around

You wont regret it for a second, I haven't, so much so, I've pretty much decided to treat myself to the full sus version as well now to add to my Boardman family

As above, both great bikes and the Team grey looks superb in the flesh. You can't go far wrong with either mate!

Just looked at the Halfords website and the have a Boardman Mountain Bike Comp Full Suspension for £799.

What Mountain Bike have garnished with numerous awards, with this in mind is it a better buy that the Boardman mountain Bike Pro.

Bearing in mind I'm not expecting to doing much/any serious off road riding.

In that case, don't bother with FS, get the team HT.

Tempting though it may be, I wouldn't get the FS if the amount of off road riding you're going to be doing is limited.

Keep with your original choice of Team or Pro
