Runs 23rd to 27th

Startlist: http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/gir ... start-list

Stages 1 and 2 are likely the most interesting. Harder than last year, there aren't many sprinters turning up. Every day is pretty hilly apart from Stage 5.

  • Why is this thread a spoiler? Is it an aerodynamic panel on the boot lid of a car?

We're taking PC to a new level by labelling a thread about a race that hasn't even started yet a spoiler. As this thread preceedes the actual start of the race it's a front spoiler or front air dam. I'm open to the actual nomenclature we use.
    When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.
  • It should be obvious. It will become a spoiler once the race starts.

Rather than clog up the forum with an introduction thread PLUS a spoiler thread, it is done as one. Makes more than enough sense.

perhaps we need a thread indicating when the thread's status changes from non-spoiler to spoiler? :)

  • That seems like a super slow average.

  • Visconti is always consistent. He did pretty well on the ranking last year given he wasn't in a top team.

  • Very strong headwinds, although it was reasonably fine.

I saw it.........eventually. Came on 2 and a half hours late, but lasted for 40 minutes.
Great highlights. Didn't miss a thing.
Podium at both ends. The break forming, contesting the intermediate sprint and GPM, the break being sucked up in it's individual components.
Next, we had the attacks on the final climb, with Nibali in the mix. He's got Kreuziger working as domestique deluxe.
That managed to provide us with both echelons and a solo breakaway, down in the final valley.
A good Shack team, with Brajkovic and Horner. The latter looking like his final km attack had got him clear, but he soon ran out of steam.
Gavazzi against the two ISD for that win.

    Great stuff.

  • Kreuziger bags the stage and takes the GC.

  • Good on him. But I gotta say, Horner is a god. That guy can deliver a strong performance in these smaller tours. Would love to see him win 1 stage and finish on the podium overall.

Heaven knows he'll be working for the man later on in the season.

  • Petacchi FTW, racking up the early season Italian races.

  • Hondo takes the win in a sprint marred by a bad crash after Petacchi hit a spectator who was leaning out.

Is there a casualty list from the crash?
    Le Blaireau (1)
  • No idea. Petacchi got second today so must be fine.
