I'm looking at purchasing a decent set of shorts for the summer, something with a nice comfy pad suitable for 2-3hr rides that will last a long time.

I'm not too bothered about the price as I'll be using them lots.

Before anyone suggests using the search function I can't for the life of me get it to work on this forum. :? Just seems to bring up every single post ever made. Operator error I think. :D

Assos... Only sensible answer you'll get
I have the Milles and Uno's, wouldn't buy anything else after these.
Buying now, you may find some good deals.

Remember that £200 shorts tear and bobble as easily as £20 ones so I'll start off with the ubiquitous Assos. Giordana are good value, Castelli are excellent, look for the new 'Body Paint' ones and Santini stuff from Prendas is always good value as are Nalini (Rapha used to use their insert)

Sounds like the Assos are going to be worth a punt then. :) Any recommended suppliers who are likely to have stock?

Thanks also for the speedy replies. :D

    Just one word. Assos.

If you know your size, Ribble are keenly priced but lots of retailers do them.

Love my Nike bib shorts but all my long leg winter stuff is Assos. For technical brilliance Assos is top, but it's harder to see the value in light weight summer kit. Just try on lots and go for the ones that fit you best. Annoyingly Assos winter long legs fit better than all the others so there went another £210. Grrrrrr.
    Summer - Cannondale Six Ultegra
Winter - Condor Bivio - cyclocross bike for commuting, cycle paths & rainy days - brilliant

LBS - Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick - Simply the best LBS
    Stolen - 2001 Specialized Allez Elite :-(

Pearl Izumi PRO are good. Assos are quite short if you have long legs.
    Pegoretti
    Colnago
    Cervelo
    Campagnolo
