Im looking for a floor pump.Which are worth the money ?.What do you use?.How long have you had it?.Does it read the correct pressures.? Cheers.

  • I got mne from tesco and its still going strong after three years. pressure gauge is not the most accurate but i tend to go by feel. think it was a tenner.

I am considering a more snazzy one soon and think it might be a Blackburn due to their super guarantee

    Cheers

This is difficult question. I'm of the opinion that most all floor pumps will give at least reasonable service. Although I'm sure there are cases of "get what you pay for". Some of the cheaper ones are most likely throw away types, when they let you down.
The more high end ones like Silca can be rebuilt with new seals, etc. and tend to last for years. So buy a cheapo, replace when it breaks,or spend a bit more and get something that lasts. As for correct pressure readings, I have NEVER doubted the gauges unless they don't work at all. I have never checked pressure with one of the hand held gauges. Never bought one. Never needed it.

I've got a Topeak Joe Blow Sport

Use it a couple of times a week
Still going strong after a couple of years
Think the gauge is OK, not tested against anything else
    Definitely worth the money
  • I have a Blackburn track pump. Very good indeed. Blackburn's do seem to be very good and last.
    Summer - Cannondale Six Ultegra
Winter - Condor Bivio - cyclocross bike for commuting, cycle paths & rainy days - brilliant

LBS - Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick - Simply the best LBS
    Stolen - 2001 Specialized Allez Elite :-(

Topeak Joe Blow Sport here too. Works fine, although it does occasionally struggle to get any air in at all - like no air will go in whatsoever and you have to literally put all your weight on the handle to even move the thing - which I've never really got to the bottom of.

    Joe Blow.

And not just for the name.

Push the valve in until air comes out before you connect the pump. Its nothing to do with having a joe blow but I have one too.

Yep - I have one of those, too.

It still works well - although you really have to put in quite a bit of effort to get it to 100+ PSI.
