Saw this happen on my ride out on Saturday, he swerved and just missed the group leader of our ride. Would the Police actually do anything if they were presented with video evidence?

  • Probably not. He was more than likely a CID officer coming home after a big lock-in

  • Well if you have video evidence with a clear shot of the dork's number plate why not give it a go?

The desk sarge will either tell you to get bent or he'll realise there's an easy conviction (and more likely a nice juicy fine to be doled out) and will do something about it.

Rubbish. Far more likely to be a copper on his way to deliver a greetings card.:wink:

Oh how we've all done that from time to time. IMO he thought the cyclist was fair game, some we should think the same. Youtube and a trip down the cop shop imo.

If you do YouTube it make sure you put the number plate in the file name so anybody searching the internet for that car will be able to find it.

Then find out where he lives. Then devise an increasingly ingenious series of pranks to fcuk with his head.
  • Similar thing happened to me on a club ride but with 2x skip lorries, very scary. The Police took it very seriously until they found out it was travellers who owned the vehicles which meant they couldn't do anything as they'd never find out who was driving. I asked if the vehicles were insured and taxed and they just said they couldn't do anything.

I asked the Police what they'd do if they'd actually hit the group which would have been head on and would have most likely killed people. They said they'd have to do something then and since it was an arrestable offence they would.

If the driver is the owner of the vehicle and can be found then the Police will most likely do something. If it becomes remotely challenging to find who was driving then it becomes too time consuming to be worth bothering with.

If you have a video then that's a great start and you should go to the police. In fact go anyway, even if they can't do anything it's recorded in case they commit other offences.

  • Had something similar happen yesterday morning, car overtaking towards me clearly could see me coming and then had the audacity to blare his horn as he overtook me.

Take it to the police, then when they do nothing, trace his car, and every night jack up the body 1mm whilst he sleeps, after a month it should start to be funny.

Out last week we had a cheeky git in a BMW come round a tight bend over the white line and he beeped at us for riding two up on our side of the road. Some people are too stupid to be allowed to drive.

I had the same when we were two up cycling behind cars doing 10 miles an hour through town. Some bloke blaring his horn and reving his engine,

He nearly clipped us when he passed us, shouting abuse through the window.

I have a small device that removes valves from car tyres given to me by a friend in the motor trade. It is God's gift to agrieved cyclists.

I have a small device that when introduced to a car window, will cause it to break quite dramatically - it's called a "half brick window displacement device" & if I ever see a couple of cars which have almost ran me over recently i'll be utilizing it. :D

Search engines dont find the plates through youtube very well. You have to tag it several ways and include it in the title. Personally I dont bother as the car can be in someone elses hands within 2 weeks of the video around here.
