Hello.
I'm after a bit of advice. I'm not exactly 'new' to road or mountain biking, just a bit out of touch on the new happenings of it all.
I'm after a cheap, single-speed road bike for exploring the roads of North Wales. I know its hilly and its going to be hard work without gears, however, i will trade some hard work for not having less maintenance
I'm based in Bangor, so if you know anyone near-by that is selling one then feel free to let me know too
Thank you for your time
K

How cheap? You could convert an old road bike for very little for SS (going fixed will cost more to do properly), or look for a used Langster, Genesis Flyer, Singlecross, etc. etc., for slightly more depending on which model.
Look for conversion kits:

...and read the FAQ, and also look at Sheldon Brown's pages.

Sheldon Brown is a great place to start.
I'd go with the 2nd hand frame and conversion, I did the same with an old GT mountain bike for bimbles to the pub. New chainset and conversion kit cost under a ton.
I'd recommend charliethebikemonger.com and hubjub for gucci bits and pieces too.
Good luck with it.0
