my gears keep jumping any sugestions

i bought a trek 3900 alpha it had cable brakes but i changed that to hydraulic brakes 
the setup i had was the gears and brakes built in but i had to fit my old single gear shifters. i had to reajust the gears again i got them spot on but everytime i put some pressure on the gears keep jumping. 
i have a shimano acera derailer on the rear any ideas any1.

Could be worn parts, or bent mech hanger. Or dirty cables.
Are your shifters compatible with the set up?0 -
well they are a 7 speed in stead of an 8 but a was looking online today and noticed nice sram x4 gear shifters 8 speed am very temted to get them.
and i also put new gear cables on my bike. see the bracket do u mean the little small bit of alluminium that holds the derailer on to the bike frame0 -
That is why they don't work very well - your shifters must match the cassette for number of gears.
SRAM X4 will not work with any Shimano rear mech.
Have a look for some Shimano Alivio shifters.
