I know there are a few threads about winter olympics events, but don't miss this tomorrow night. It's probably the most entertaining sport in the olympics, it's mental.

I'll be tuning in. If the trailer on BBC is anything to go by it looks like absolute mayhem.0

I'll be rooting for the Jamaican guy. He's actually quite good - no. 5 in the world. He's really an American, but it's not often you see a black man skiing.
That's 'cos they go too fast!!!Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -
Just started, first race didn't disappoint!0

It reminds me of the "Chinese Downhill" scene from the 80's movie: "Hot Dog The Movie"

Awesome, truly awesome. I don't think I've shouted at the Tele so much in years.

Personally, I think it's what the olympics are all about - apart from Delbosco who's drug addled, cheat laden nationality switching career means that he shouldn't be competing at any level.
It makes the snowboarding event look like tiddlywinks.
For those who didn't see it, imagine double speed mountain bike racing crossed with cyclo-cross - on ice - and you're not too far away.

I thought it was a disappointment.
Most of the races were decided in the first 5-10 seconds. Very little overtaking happened after the first corner, so it all became a bit processional.0 -
Earlier rounds were amazing with loads of jockeying for position leading to crashes .Later rounds became a bit of a procession-still the most exciting event of the Winter olympics though.0

Me too. I guess it's the same with all sports that we're not familiar with, but once the races started, I had no idea who was who. Neither did the commentators by the sound of it. Errol Flynn, eh?0 -

You're clearly not from Friesland then.
Speed skating is obviously the best event there :P
It's like track racing for people who hate bike maintenance.0 -
Ladies race tonight. Qualifying first then racing starts at 9pm. Bit of a shame as it clashes with the Giant Slalom second run.
For those that were disappointed, try and catch a World Cup race, it's usually a bit more exciting as they tend to use different styles of courses, this course looks like it was designed more for snow board cross than ski cross.0 -
I think it would be even more entertaining if they put some big swinging pendulums across the the corse... a bit like Its a Knockout .and that go'es for the ski jump also0
