Just noticed that my fork legs (uppers) are 2 totally different colour metals, one is almost black! (pic below) and its not just light or camera trickery, its the same in the flesh!
Its kinda bugging me, so, if it was yours would you exchange them?

you mean the stanchions? for what you paid, i guess i'd expect them to match, return them and get some fox 32's or revs (have a look in this month's MBUK, they both review better than the thors)0
-
How odd :?
If you're after an exchange, it may be worth emailing on-one and asking them if they all look like this. See what they say.0 -

Thanks, I'll take a look at that article, although from what I've read elsewhere and the price I'm happy with them, just not the problem at hand.Cat With No Tail wrote:How odd :?

Odd indeed, I tried calling On-One today but I guess they aren't there as none of the lines were answered? I have emailed them as well so I'll see what happens on Monday :?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Blingo, is that a word?..................It is now
Unique is one way of calling it, just that spending £400 on some forks and I just expect them to be right, maybe I'm becoming a blingo afterallOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Point taken, that's a bucketload of cash, but rest assured the Magura fanboys will be interrogating you about the off colour stanchion. When you tell them you received it like this out of the box, 90% of them wouldn't believe you..0

They die harders then? This is my first delving into world of Magura :shock:Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

I like Magura's kit, I have been using a pair of HS66 rim squeezers on my Road MTB for years and rate them as good as any entry - mid range disc brake0
-
The magura products i tried (a couple of sets of their brakes) weren't really up to scratch, but they may have been due a bleed/new pads, i don't know, i just don't really fancy them.
Personally, with regards to forks, you can't go far wrong with rockshox products. I have some pike 454 coil u-turns and they do everything you need them to. They're a little heavier than some competitors but they perform well and they're 100% reliable.0 -
OH dear... thats called stantion-discoloration and is a common problem with mag's, it causes exess heat build up, and then they terminaly brake...... you better sent them to me.I like bikes and stuff0

lol! just looking for an excuse to get rid because the revs are lighter? hehehe.

Looks like the stanchions have come from two different batches.0
-
You have to wonder how they got past quality control.
The question that springs to my mind is if they're so lax with regards to the bits you can see, how lax have they been with the bits you can't see?
I would E-mail Magura and ask them to explain how they managed to get past quality control with different coloured stantions.
If where to buy a pair of shoes the absolute least I would expect is for them to be the same colour as each other.0 -

Hehe! Thy do look rather cool though... I'd email/call On-One if you can, see what they say. On-One weren't great when I wanted to send something bake... they just wanted me to have free things from them that I didn't need :roll:0 -
I'd contact Magura to make sure it isn't an issue of some sort. Looks kinda cool to me.0

As a quality engineer i'm never suprised to see what gets passed 'quality control'
if its inspected buy a human its got an 80% chance of being detected at best!0 -
I'm surprised no one has picked up on the fact that the left leg has a red patch on and different decals than the right one.
There there is a rubber o ring on the left stanchion and not the right. Also the drop outs are filled so you won't be able to get a wheel on there.........

I'd send em back - Makes them look odd - or if you ever want to sell them makes it look like you damaged one stanchion badly and had it replaced.0
-
would bother me I must admit, but I'm guessing not a problem as such.
I think I'd complain.Everything in moderation ... except beer

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I have been in contact with On-One and they have agreed to take them back, my only decision now is whether to get a replacement or a refund and go for the Revs which were my 1st choice originally?
I have to run some errands so I'll pick up the mag mentioned on the 1st page to see the latest fork reviews before I decideOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Forks being collected tomorrow and then a refund, so possibly going to go with the Revs that I originally wanted, but, has anyone bought any forks from Winstanleys before, were they full retail boxed, any probs with customer service if any faults etc??? Seen the 2010 Rev Teams Dual Air Maxle for just under £480.Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

fox fox fox fox fox fox....
winstanley urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you pays your money you takes your chances...
try a search on here then google on winstanleys.. they like to take you money and then try to order the parts you ordered, if they out of stock wtih the supplier/importer then your trouble starts trying to get hold of them and the countless lies....
now to contradict my selft they came up trumps when my brother ordered his xtr crank off them last year, it arrived roughly on time and it was fully boxed ect...
wintstanleys is only around 10 miles from me. best bet is to pop in if you can if it in stock but it there and then....
have you had a look on merlins website i know they had some revs going cheap..www.bearbackbiking.com

Lighter than the fox or the Mags? According to MBUK this month theres only 4g's difference between the Mags & the Recs
And most annoyingly, the stupid and most unreliable DPD have failed to collect the forks today after me wasting a day waiting in for them and have to go through it all again tomorrow! DPD are worse then City Link! This is not the 1st or 2nd time DPD have let me down!Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos
