I collected this yesterday, at long last. The usual disclaimer applies concerning stem spacers :D

Holdsworth Mystique. My first ever racing bike. Can you tell I find it hard to let bikes go? :)

    Nice collection!

Thats the first time in ages I've seen a track bike that I've really liked.

Your Dad's old Holdsworth is marvellous. Great restoration. Are you going to use cloth tape + shellac?

That RXR looks really different to the one my mate has. Why have they changed the design? Is it a different bike alltogether?

Here's a pic of Wiggo riding what i'm talking about:

  • I hope you have some suitable spangly red kit to go with the Time?

And maybe some Rapha tweed to go with the Holdsworth Cyclone Deluxe!

    It's a different bike altogether

This was posted today, the bike is evidentally one day old and the Sun is shining! in Leighton Buzzard?
    You sure....

    It's very.... Red, innit!
    Beautiful bike, though, very unusual.

Thanks. Credit must go to Neil at Atlantic Boulevard. It's a real shame I forgot to take a before and after pic as the transformation has been incredible. The chainset was completely rusted over. seatpost was seized, etc, etc. Looking at it now, iIt's hard to believe it's 60 years old.
I did try the cloth tape, but I wasn't very happy with my handy work. Is there an idiot's guide somehwere? I've still got a few rolls of Velox tape left, but the thought of Brooks leather tape had crossed my mind. Is this cheating?

It's always sunny here hopper! Like the Costa Brava. Seriously though, the most shocking thing was my wife not freaking out when I told her the price

    Thanks everyone.

It's not quite an idiot's guide, but there are some good pictures of cloth taped bars on Rivendell's site:

    http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/ne ... ape/16-207

Snoop around the site a bit and you'll find more – here's instruction for wrapping the inboard tape edge in twine, if that's your thing (pdf link):

    https://www.rivbike.com/assets/payloads ... orsite.pdf

Brooks leather tape is nice but better suited to a new "traditional" bike, in my opinion; yours is the real thing!

    That's not an RXR
    http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/road/200 ... ns_Time_TT

"UK prologue hopeful Bradley Wiggins (Cofidis) will head out on a Time RXR, shown here in cool-down mode after a training ride."

I've seen a third version too, looking totally different with a big "RXR" paint job on the downtube. I'm just curious why some people have completely different looking ones.

The version you're referring to is the time trial frame. The current RXR is the road version which followed in 2008/09.

Love everything you've done with that RXR, its pimping! let me know how it rides!!
  • That RXR is sweet :-) What's the retail on one of those? ;-)

    2013 Yeti SB66
  • those bendy forks look odd! :D

The cofidis rxr frame was a prototype and you can only buy one from the company if you ask them personbnally. it was meant to be a road and tt frame but its too expensive to mass produce. there are only 100 around

Cheers. There's been some teething problems though, so it's had to go back to the lbs today
I work in Aylesbury, so drop me a pm if you want to hook up. It's gotta be better than commuting from LB

Your RXR looks great 8) It will be interesting to hear how it rides.

I had the RXR on my long short list but ended up having to exclude it because of the integrated seatpost but only because of the issues with fitting them in to my bike box.

If you every make beyond Aylesbury and out toward Oakley, let me know – would be good to see it in the flesh.
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.

I had decided on the white, but changed my mind once I saw them in the shop! Can't stretch to obi's on mine though.

    obi?

I'll kick myself when you say it....

(if you have any spare racing zeros - shout. One thing missing off my Wilier build...)

Out of interest, how does the "old" Prince ride? I'm considering buying one of the framesets, which is fairly much unused, in mint condition.

I love the old Prince frame. Very firm ride, plenty of feedback. It can be jarring on a long ride (the new Prince is definitely more comfortable), but on shorter rides, or smooth roads, it's a fantastic bike. It definitely doesn't suffer in comparison to modern frames. I certainly won't be getting rid of mine :D
