Speedplay Soled Shoes

Had heart set on a pair of Bont A Ones, but bont have changed set up in uk and the dealer i'm using is trying his best but the flow of bonts into the uk may not start til June. Can't wait til then as need a bike fit and want bike set up and perfect asap. So looking at the Lake CX 401 as they do the speedplay sole. They also do the shoe one down in the speedplay sole to. Which leads me to does anyone else do speedplay soles as i've not found any.

What's a speedplay sole? Is it basically a sole with 4 holes for attaching a speedplay cleat? If so why do you need that when all speedplay pedals come with a 3 hole adapter so they can be fitted to normal 3 hole road shoes. That's what I use.

Just want to make the most of the low stack and not use the adapter.

Ah fair enough. I didn't think of that. Would it actually make all that difference? It must only be about 3mm thick at best.

prob not, but i know bont shoes thin sole can change things so maybe.

Surely you have to use the 3 hole black plate with speedplay pedals? Thats not an adaptor is it? How would the yellow part of the cleat, used on it own, fit the curve of the sole?

speedplay are desgined for a 4 hole shoe, you get an adotper for 3 hole(look) with the pedals and a set of shims for curved soles. Speedplay soles are flat but you need to buy a metal plate to far under the cleat if you run carbon soles. So far i know lake, DMT and Bont make speedplay soled shoes. on the DMT its a 6mm drop over the adotper. Sent messages to the importers and a few shops, hopefully will get something monday but at the minute nobody wants my 200-300 quid MADNESS.

Perhaps they think it's madness to spend 200-300 quid on a pair of shoes so are doing you a favour.
