Scott Spark 20 Seat post

I have today become the proud owner of a Scott Spark 20. As I ordered the bike over the internet (www.westbrookcycles.co.uk) it came in a cardboard box and I had to what little assembley needed to get the bike in a rideable state.
The thing I'm not sure about is, in my experience all seat posts tend to be greased, however the Scott is dry both on the seat tube and the frame hole. Should I put in some grease to help the tube move in and out (don't want to scratch it either) or just leave it and be careful?
Thanks

what are the frame and post made from?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Is there nothing in the instructions on this? Some recommend dry fit with carbon. Most are greased though.0

none of the scotts come with greased posts.
Carbon assembly paste would be best0 -
I've read the instructions and can't see anything which says one or the other.
I was thinking of using vaseline, daft idea?0 -
so are we talking Carbon on Carbon here? Or what?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Don't use vaseline or ordinary grease.
Use a special grease for carbon that increases the friction between the two surfaces and reduces the amount you need to tighten the clamp. It also prevents the parts sticking together. Yes, it sounds contradictory, but it works. Fibre Grip is the one I use.0 -
Thanks for all the replys guys, really appreciate it.0
